Welcome to the website of The University Church of Christ in Lawton, Oklahoma. We hope that our home on the internet can be a resource for members of our body, area congregations, and for the Lawton-area community. The Christians who make up the University Church of Christ are people from all walks of life who sincerely want to follow God. When asked about who we are religiously, we customarily answer that we are Christians, disciples of Jesus. We respond this way because that is the answer the followers of Jesus in the New Testament would have given. The identity we feel as simply Christians comes from our determination to follow the teachings of Christ as found in the New Testament and to avoid the religious parties and creeds that have arisen. We are convinced that the only way to truly follow Jesus is to stay securely within what He and His apostles taught and practiced as revealed in the Scriptures. Our aim is to meet the spiritual and physical needs of this congregation and the community. Many people today are searching, trying to find God, trying to find Jesus, trying to find the right church and trying to find knowledge to help them know how to live. Therefore, it is our goal to help people find the answers they are seeking. We believe the bible, as the inspired word of God, has those answers. In today’s society, the home and family seem to be under constant attack. We place special emphasis on the family, recognizing and being thankful for the unique roles God gave to each of us as husbands, wives, fathers, mothers and children. The family that puts God, His Word and His church at the center of their home will reap rewards and benefits that are immeasurable and will last for life. At the University Church of Christ, we are sensitive to the needs of families in their struggles and have a great desire to help them defend their homes against Satan’s attacks.
